CALLING ALL GOOD MEN: AMBASSADORS WANTED
With almost one in three women having experienced violence by a current or previous partner in their lifetime, White Ribbon is urging all good men to come forward as Ambassadors this November to help raise awareness about violence against women.
Australia’s CEO Challenge is looking for good men to publicly challenge violence supporting attitudes in men and women by becoming an Ambassador for White Ribbon Day, to be held 25 November.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Personal Safety Survey 2006 found that at 40 percent, nearly half of all women have experienced violence since the age of 15.
Executive Director of Australia’s CEO Challenge, Wendy Reid, said that becoming a White Ribbon Ambassador was a simple but important statement of support.
“It’s the one time of year we encourage all men to swear! Only by speaking up can we hope to bring an end to violence against women and the more men on board, the more awareness we can generate,” said Wendy.
“White Ribbon Ambassadors can be as involved as they like from simply wearing a ribbon to hosting awareness and fundraising events. No matter how involved an Ambassador is, he is still sending the key message that violence against women is not okay and that’s what White Ribbon Day is all about,” she said.
Men can be nominated as White Ribbon Ambassadors by friends, family or work colleagues or can make the pledge and sign up themselves.
Take the pledge today – sign up to be a White Ribbon Ambassador online via the website:
